Krystal Pfeifer Obituary

RAPID CITY - Krystal Ann Pfeifer, 24, Rapid City, and formerly of Philip, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at her home. Krystal Ann Pfeifer was born June 15, 1983, in Rapid City, the daughter of Robert "Barney" and Diane Pfeifer. Krystal, better known as "Shortee" to her family and friends, grew up and attended school in Philip. She graduated from Philip High School in 2002, where she participated in basketball, volleyball, band, and was very involved in the FFA. She was especially proud of being part of the Philip National Champion FFA Marketing Plan Team. Krystal moved to Rapid City after graduation to work and be closer to her family. Krystal enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays, going to the car races and demolition derby's with her family and friends, working in the service industry, reading books and baking. Krystal never let anyone else drive ever. She always had to drive and listen to her music. She was always there for her family and friends in the time of need. Grateful for having shared her life are her parents, Diane and step-father Charles Gittings of Rapid City and her father Robert "Barney" Pfeifer of Philip; sisters, Shelli Dowdy-Hoffland (Lynn) of Gillette, WY, and Tammi Williams (Scott) of Rapid City; stepsister, Julie Neugebauer (Greg) of Hermosa; stepbrother, Jody Gittings of Philip; and a special friend, Chad Wangen of Rapid City. She had two nephews, Bryan and Derek Dowdy, and two nieces, Kelsey Dowdy and Hannah Williams, which she spoiled dearly and loved with all her heart; step-nephew Carter Hoffland; two step-nieces Jamie and Taylor Neugebauer; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be truly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Marie Pfeifer; her maternal grandparents, Everett and Helen Slovek; a stepbrother Jamie "Spud" Gittings; and a step-niece, Carrie Hoffland. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, with a celebration of life service at 7 p.m., all at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, at the church, with Father Ron Garry as celebrant, and Father Arnold Kari as con-celebrant. Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip. A memorial has been established. Rush Funeral Home in Philip is in charge of the arrangements. Krystal worked for us at Interim HealthCare in 2005-2006. She was greatly loved by the people's lives she got to touch. She was a pleasure to us in the office also. There was always a smile on her face! I was very sad when she decided to change careers and go to Deadwood. She really made a difference to a lot of people in her short life. Please know everyone here sends our thoughts and prayers to her family.

I worked with Krystal as well. Although I never had a chance to really speak to her, everytime I heard her speak she was saying something sweet. It's so sad to have someone so young taken away, and she truly was a great addition to our family at work. My heart goes out to Krystal's family. Krystal, you will be missed.
