Larry Leitzke
RAPID CITY - Larry Leitzke, 79, Rapid City, SD, formerly of Minot, ND, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 in the Rapid City Hospice House. Larry was born on June 7, 1944, a son of Alvin and Annie Leitzke. He was raised and educated in Glenburn, ND .
Larry graduated from Glenburn High School in 1962. On October 6, 1967, Larry was united in marriage to Betty Spelhaug.
Larry worked for Chevron for 31 years making their homes in Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, and North Dakota. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting various items, but he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.
He was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church while he lived in Minot and Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rapid City.
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; children: Wendy Simmons (Brad), Kim Hamilton (Jeff) and Doug Leitzke; grandchildren: Alexis Salinas (Adrian), Ashlyn Sims (Bryer), Chandis Simmons, Mason Hamilton, Karlee Simmons and Taylor Hamilton; and four great-grandchildren; siblings: Everett Leitzke (Marilyn), Marilyn Sauer, Pearl Sauer, and Carolyn Tandberg.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Vigil prayer service on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed by going to Larry's webpage at www.thompsonlarson.com. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
