Wayne Hieb Obituary

RAPID CITY - Funeral services for Wayne James Hieb, 59, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17th, at Worden Chapel in Newcastle with Pastor Mick Bohn of Newcastle Foursquare Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Newcastle. Visitation will be Saturday, February 17th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Worden Chapel. The family welcomes any memorial contributions. Wayne died unexpectedly Saturday, February 10th, at his Rapid City home. Mr. Hieb was born August 13, 1947, at Mobridge, SD the son of John and Hilda (Dickoff) Hieb. He attended school in Firesteel, SD. He later joined the military in 1967 and received a medical discharge soon after. Wayne was self-employed as an automotive mechanic for many years. He married Lauretta Salwei on December 20, 1969. They were divorced in 1983. He enjoyed building pulling tractors and attending tractor pulling events in the area. Survivors include his son, Darren (Michele) Hieb; a daughter, Amanda (Darren Bench, fiance, granddaughter Madison) Hieb; two sisters, Bernice (Mark) Kari and Virginia (Mark) Kober; six brothers, Edward (Florence) Hieb, Willard (Nellie) Hieb, Darrell (Connie) Hieb, Johnny (Sonja) Hieb, Eugene (Bonnie) Hieb, and Donnie Hieb, and girlfriend Sherena Kaiser and daughters Shantiel and Marissa.

Wayne was a man I called DAD. He will be missed very much. Tyler Ryan (my new son) will never meet him but will know the love he shared with me and will know Wayne as his grandpa. I'll miss you Dad.
