George Richard Savage
George Richard Savage was one of five children, survived by one sister, Deena Davis Norman. George has three surviving children; Cherie Opal, Trina Frances, George Richard Jr., and one deceased daughter, Lori Ann; a daughter-in law, Kim Rawson Savage, and son-in law, Tracy Kitch. He has four grandchildren Taryn Richard, Kari Ann, Matthew James Atlas, Wesley Daniel.
George attended Mount Diablo High School where he was active in Football, the Audio Visual club and Diablo News. He graduated in 1953.
George met and married Madaleon Yvonne Gaboriault in 1956 in Fortuna, CA and went to work for a logging company in Humboldt County driving a Caterpillar tractor. In 1960 George moved his family to the Sacramento area and worked as an Ironworker until he retired and moved to Sula, MT in 1994.
George loved his life in Montana and considered it his home. He enjoyed hunting and fishing during his earlier retirement years and highly valued and loved his close community of friends and neighbors.
Side note: George had a lineage going back to the founding settlers of America. His 9th great grandfather was Ensign Thomas Savage of the original Jamestown colony in Virginia. He arrived on a ship named "the John and Francis" in America in 1608. He was 13 years old. George was a direct ancestor from this male lineage. He embodied the same grit and strength of this line. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

George was a great friend and extended family for all occasions. He became a great Montanan in all respects and his sprit will live on forever all across the Bitterroot Mountains, streams and forests that he loved so much.
One more coyote howled last week in the hills over the East Fort River.
