Mark Wunderlich Obituary

Mark Dale Wunderlich, age 62, formally of Bowling Green, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018.
A Memorial Mass was held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the St. Clement Catholic Church in St. Clement with Rev. Jason T. Doke, S.T.L. officiating. Memorial visitation was held 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Mark was born July 31, 1955, in St. Louis the son of Forrest and Katheryne Goolsby Wunderlich. On May 12, 1979 he married Janice Kay Harvey. She survives.
Other survivors include daughter Katie Hellmann (Shawn) of Webster Groves; sons Dale Wunderlich (Holly) of Washington and Andrew Wunderlich of St. Louis; three grandchildren Charlee Hellmann, Baylee Hellmann and Harvey Wunderlich; brothers Neal Wunderlich (Therese) of O'Fallon and Gary Wunderlich (Julie) of St. Charles; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mark grew up in St. Louis and moved to St. Louis County where he attended Rosary High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Missouri- St. Louis. In 1979 he married Janice Harvey in St. Clement Church and, in that same year, also started his career at Creve Coeur Fire Protection district where he worked for 38 years and recently retired in January 2018 as Captain.
Mark, Janice and family lived in St. Charles until 1985 when they moved to Bowling Green where they lived until October of 2017. They attended St. Clement Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana. They raised their family there and made many dear friends.
After recently retiring from the Fire Department, Mark and Janice moved away from Bowling Green to be closer to their children and three grandchildren. Mark was such a natural and adoring PaPa. He enjoyed taking his grand-babies for walks and wagon rides to the park and around the neighborhood, kicking the ball in the yard, flying kites, and watching them grow. He enjoyed doing anything with family and close friends but especially hunting, Cardinal baseball, Kansas Jayhaw basketball, camping and being outdoors. He was an avid animal lover and over the years had many dogs and cats. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and vacationing and traveling with Janice.
Mark loved Bowling Green and if you ran into him anywhere in town, you probably would be talking to him for 30 minutes.
He found after their recent move that he missed his Bowling Green home and friends so much. He truly considered Bowling Green his home.
