Anna Sands Obituary


Anna R. Sands, 91, formerly of Locust Street, Reading, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, in the Lutheran Home at Topton-Assisted Living, where she resided for the past 10 years.

She was the wife of Wayne Sands, who passed away Nov. 26, 1982.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John Goerner and Emma (Schell) Goerner.

Mrs. Sands worked as a sewing machine operator for various clothing mills in Reading before retiring.

She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Bernville.

Surviving are one son, Larry W., husband of Barbara J. Sands, of Bernville; two grandchildren, Stephen Sands and Michael Travis; and three great-grandchildren: Katherine and Jacob Travis and Micaela Sands.

Visitation will be held at Lutz Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by services at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.

Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Benevolent Care Endowment Fund for the Lutheran Home at Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries/Office of Advancement, Suite 300, 798 Hausman Road, Allentown, PA 18104-9108 or Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 201, Bernville, PA 19506
