Catherine Wunsch Obituary

Catherine M. (Gerhart) Wunsch, 78, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died June 19, 2009, in her West Reading residence after a battle with cancer.

She was the wife of Eugene E. Wunsch, whom she married on March 17, 1951.

Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late George A. Gerhart and Mabel (Keeney) Hall.

She was a graduate of West Reading High School in 1949 and Reading Business Institute.

Catherine was an X-ray secretary for 43 years, employed by Community General Hospital, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of Hain's United Church of Christ, Wernersville.

Catherine loved nature, especially gardening and birding; she also was an avid reader. The Reading Public Museum, where she volunteered, took classes and gardened, had a special place in her heart.

She is survived by five children: Vicki A., wife of Michael C. Blaum, Reinholds; Daniel G., husband of Linda, West Lawn; Denise M. Templin, West Reading; Mary-Kate Young, West Reading; and Dr. Robert A., husband of Traci, Wyomissing.

There are also seven grandchildren: Kaelyn, Jillian, Tess, Brynn, Erin, Alyssa and Bradley; and one great-grandson, Caden.

One sister, Louisa E., wife of James Gregg, Lancaster, also survives her.

Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Hain's Church Cemetery. Friends may call today from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
