Dale Sweigart Obituary

Dale T. Sweigart, 65, of Muhlenberg Township passed away on Monday January 24, 2022. Born in Reading, Dale was the son of the late Harold L. and Clara W. (Henrich) Sweigart. He is survived by his loving wife, Emily E. (Bretz) Sweigart. Dale is also survived by his four daughters: Shanalyn E. Eckenrod, wife of Charles of Ontelaunee Township, Allison E, Kaufman, wife of Terry of Muhlenberg Township, Alyssa E. Sweigart-Ingram, wife of Justin Ingram of Vernon Hills, IL and Deanna E. Sweigart of Reading. Dale is also survived by his grandson Nicholas, four brothers: Russell Sweigart, Carl Sweigart, Joe Sweigart, Darryl “Boo Boo” Sweigart, and his brother-in-law, James Bretz. Dale graduated from Reading High School and went on to have a distinguished career as a National Standard Master electrician. Dale and Emily spent 49 amazing years together and 44 as husband and wife. He was so proud to be a father to his four daughters and was also overjoyed to welcome three sons-in-law to his family that he loved as sons. Dale’s life was completed when he became a grandfather to a little boy, Nicholas, who affectionately referred to him as “Pete”. “Pete” loved Nicholas with his whole heart. He loved listening to rock music and watching sports, especially Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, Penn State, and NASCAR. He also looked forward to Friday night sandwiches and movies with his family. He had a true passion and talent for decorating his home with Christmas lights that were enjoyed by family, friends, and local community. Dale enjoyed imparting his passion and knowledge for electrical work to his family, teaching them all the electrical trade. They all spent time working alongside him in the field, including wiring one of his daughter’s homes. He always had the solution, advice, or fix to a problem or knew where to find the answer. To his family, Dale was their hero, and for Dale there was nothing he loved or was more proud of than his family. Funeral service will be held in Bean Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3825 Penn Avenue Sinking Spring, Wednesday February 2, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. Reverend Melinda Angstadt will officiate. Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens. I have known Dale for about 35 years. He was such a good friend and I will forever hold his friendship in my heart.
The past 2 years we have worked on a few projects together. I have enjoyed our chats over "bear claws". You are a good friend Dale and I am proud to have known you.
Emily, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God has given you a treasure chest of beautiful memories to hold dear in your heart. May they comfort you right now and may you feel the loving arms of God surrounding you.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to Dale´s family. He was definitely one of a kind. Every time I´d see him the first topic was our children-I know he was a proud papa...an electrician I trusted to refer my own customers to as a lighting geek. I´ll miss randomly running into him at the store and catching up...heaven has acquired quite a character.
