Daniel Hurrell

Daniel R. Hurrell, 70, of Cumru Township, passed away February 4, 2018, at 8:06 p.m. in his residence. He was the loving husband of Susan M. Cressy-Hurrell. They would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on March 20th.

Born in Norristown, Pa., he was a son of the late Roland and Elizabeth (Smith) Hurrell. He was a freight carrier for ABF Freight of Carlisle, retiring in 2000.

Dan served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Marine Corps. While serving in Vietnam, Pvt. Daniel R. Hurrell was cited by the Marine Corps commanding general in the Pacific for action against the Viet Cong in which he exposed himself to enemy fire and succeeded in helping his fellow

Marines to rout the Viet Cong from their

positions. He was awarded the Navy

Commendation Medal for heroic action in the Southeast Asian War.

Dan was a member of Howell Lodge No. 405 F&AM, Honey Brook, Rajah Shrine, Rajah Shrine Gun Club and Rajah Shrine Legion of Honor, serving as their commander in 2005. He enjoyed woodworking and his dogs.

Surviving in addition to wife are 3 children: Danielle Hurrell, Norristown, Daniel Hurrell Jr., Montgomery County, Holly Lynn Ready, Pottsgrove; his siblings: Patricia Hurrell, Exeter Twp., Catherine, wife of Michael Romano, Norristown, Elizabeth Haas, Delaware, Bradford Hurrell, Pennsylvania; and several grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Lauren Cressy-Hurrell, who passed away in 1991; and siblings, Sally and Richard.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington. Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. conducted by Howell Lodge No. 405 F&AM.
