Doris M. Fix

Doris M. Fix, 93, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 28th, at Country Meadows of Wyomissing. Doris was born in Reading, on December 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Anna (Kissinger) and Clair Bricker. She was the widow of Earl L Fix, Jr. Earl died on April 5, 2015. Doris graduated from Muhlenburg High and worked at the Wide Awake Shirt Co before marrying Earl. They spent 62 1/2 happy years together creating a family and many beach memories. From first summering in Stone Harbor, to buying a summer home in Wildwood Crest, to eventually living there full time before moving to Englewood, FL in their 50's, a lot of time was spent by the water. Many of their favorite activities included walking their dog Dusty on the beach after the guards left in WC, collecting sand dollars on the sandbars in the Gulf and then later having a stand in FL selling seashells by the seashore. Doris also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cards, shuffleboard, tennis and bowling. Her enjoyment of games continued throughout her life. A week before her passing she won at Bingo twice and was playing noodle ball with her lovely group of friends at Country Meadows. A special thank you to their staff (especially Erin) and Lifesong Hospice for taking such wonderful care of her. Doris is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Fix and Christine M. Fix, wife of Nolan Heiter, and a son, Roger B. Fix. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren Evan P. and Dana M. Heiter. Doris is also survived by a sister, Ruth DeStasio. She was predeceased by her sisters Marian Royer, June Dobson and Greta Clemens and her brother Gary Bricker. A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 17th at Sanders Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 1501 North 11th Street, Reading. Friends may call from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment at Laureldale Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro PA 19508.
