Edinboro died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at the Edinboro Manor. She was born in Mifflinburg, PA the daughter of the late Franklin and Caroline Raker Heckman.
Doris enjoyed her dogs and was an avid reader. She was very proud of her flower garden. She made many friends through her genealogy research. She loved hummingbirds and had a great collection. She established and was the director of the Berks County Consumer Action Committee. She loved her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ruhl.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years Gregory Lessig, of Edinboro; one son, John Kalinoski of MD; one daughter, Susan Hill of London, Ontario Canada, step childern, Gregory Lessig of FL; and Mark Lessig of VA; Jan Sissel of TX; Lori Nanns of VA; and Denise Arron of TX; one brother, Barry Heckman of Reading, PA; her grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Kalinoski; Allen and Natalie Hill; step grandchildern Josh and Arron Nanns; Abbie and Eva Arron; Sarah and Justin Lessig; Jordon and Shelby Lessig; ; and Matthew Harmon; also three step great grandchildren Reed and Logan Lessig and Autum Kelly.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of the memorial service there at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lisa Grant officiating, assisted by Dr. James Drain.
