Edward MacLachlin Obituary

Edward Albert MacLachlin, 86, Pottstown, husband of Norma E. MacLachlin, departed peacefully Jan. 30, 2009, in the Hospice Care Unit of the Coatesville VA Medical Center, surrounded by the love, songs, stories and prayers of his entire family.

Born in Philadelphia on Dec. 14, l922, Edward was a son of the late Douglas and Winifred (Barry) McLaughlin.

Surviving are his spouse, Norma, to whom he was happily married for 61 years, and five sons and five daughters: Edward A. MacLachlin Jr., Philadelphia; Colleen MacLachlin, and partner, Marianne Yorke, Monmouth Beach, N.J.; Marianne Hull, and husband, Jerry, Philadelphia; Karen Mickiewicz, Philadelphia; Lucy Mickletz, and husband, Faron, Pottstown; Michael MacLachlin, and wife, Mary, Feasterville; Dennis MacLachlin, who lives with Norma, Pottstown; Bruce MacLachlin, and wife, Vicki, Boyertown; John MacLachlin and Kimberly, Green Lane; and Suzann MacLachlin, and her partner, Michael Towers, Sumneytown.

Ed and Norma also raised the three young children of Ed's older brother, Joseph: Theresa Garrison, Dover, Del.; Winifred Courtney (decreased); and Joseph McLaughlin, Philadelphia.

Edward is survived by 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by eight siblings: Douglas, James, Joseph, Thomas, Elizabeth, Anna, Anthony and Francis MacLaughlin.

Arrangements are being handled by the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home Inc., 111 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown.
