He was the husband of Barbara B.
"Bonnie" (Smolinski/Shade) Bacon, having been married for 24 years.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mr.
Bacon was the son of the late Charles E. and Wynn (Snook) Bacon. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Alma Bacon.
He worked many jobs, a few of which are Reading Motor Inn, now the Inn at Reading, for 35 years last serving as maintenance supervisor, and later Dutch Colony Motor Inn.
Mr. Bacon served in the United States Navy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 3 sons: Michael E. Bacon, husband of Patricia Bacon, of Texas; Mark E.
Bacon, husband of Brenda Bacon, of Robesonia; and Harold W. Bacon Jr., husband of Jennifer Bacon, of Monroe County; and his daughter, Kelly L. Bosold, wife of Brett Bosold, of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher W.
Bacon, October 5, 1999.
He is also survived by his step-son, Michael H. Shade Jr., husband of Sherry Shade, of Douglassville; along with 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Bacon is also survived by his sister, Charlene Allison, wife of Fred Allison, of Grand Blanc, Michigan; and was preceded in death by his sister, Grace "Petie" (Bacon) Miller.
He will be missed terribly by his 2 wonderful greyhounds.
Celebration of Life Service, directed by the family, will be held in Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 12:00-1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
greyhound rescue charity of your choice or the Animal
Rescue League, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508,
in memory of Mr. Harold Whitney Bacon Sr.

So sorry to hear of Hal's passing. I worked with him at the Inn of Reading in the 80's for 10 years. He was awesome and will be missed.
