Jack Causa Obituary

Jack Causa, 76, Shillington, died Sept. 12 in his residence.

He was the husband of Claire M. (Sullivan) Causa.

Born in Easton on Aug. 21, 1930, he was a son of the late Gioacchino and Marcella (Testo) Causa.

He came to Reading in 1942 and attended Southwest Junior High School. There he played multiple sports and excelled as the band's trumpeter. He continued those endeavors at Reading High School and graduated in 1948.

He joined the PA National Guard's 148th Fighter Squadron that same year and was activated until his discharge in 1952. His love for the trumpet continued, during which time, with his father, he established Causa's Dry Cleaning and Tailoring, where he worked until 1961.

He received his Registered Representatives' License with the National Association of Securities Dealers in 1961 and continued as an insurance and investment broker with Waddell & Reed Inc, Hackett Associates Inc. and Waterstone Financial Group under the title of C&C Asset Management, until his death. His career spanned 46 years.

He was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

He was a 40-year member of the Shillington Rotary Club, where he held many offices. He also started the Punt, Pass and Kick football contest with the Reading Ford Co. in the early 1960s. Jack also helped initiate and continued to coach the baseball and basketball CYO programs from 1967 to 1971 at St. John's Grade School, Shillington.

He spent his entire life as an avid hunter and fisherman, literally traveling the globe in pursuit of bear, caribou, moose, ram, elk, cape buffalo, marlin, tuna, peacock, bass, etc. In addition to his travels, his own Pennsylvania deer camp located in Tioga County was dearest to his heart.

Jack celebrated 53 years of marriage in June and nothing was ever more important to him than fulfilling and providing for his wife, children and grandchildren. He took great pride and pleasure in engineering the entire family vacations that took them to the Outer Banks, New Jersey Shore and two cruises.

He is also survived by two sons, Jack J., husband of Regina Causa, Lincoln Park; and Dr. David M., husband of Patricia Causa, Wyomissing; and two daughters, Cheryl A. (Causa), wife of David Migliore, Spring Township; and Dianne M. (Causa), wife of Stephen Weber, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren: David Causa II, Erin Causa, Kylie Causa, Megan Migliore, Kevin Migliore, Justin Causa, Bryan Weber, Patrick Causa and Claire Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.

Contributions may be made to Holy Name Youth Football Scholarship Fund, 955 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611.

Dear Mrs. Causa, Jack & Family,

Fond memories of Mr. Causa remain prominent in our mind. Army/Navy game in '74-75, trips to Auggies, weekends at the Causa household.

We thoroughly enjoyed his company, laughter and his stories. "Thanks for the memories!" God bless you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jack was like a second father to me. He was kind, considerate and tough when he had to be. He taught me more than just how to invest my money; he taught me how to invest time in my family, that will reap more dividends than he will ever know. Clair and family, please know that our prayers and thoughts are with you.
