I was saddened to see the recent passing of Coach Bierbower. She was my coach for junior high track and my 8th grade English teacher. She was without a doubt one of my absolute favorites. I appreciated her tough but very caring way with her students and the athletes she coached. Though she wasn’t my teacher or coach during my junior and senior year she helped me through the college process when I had no one to really guide me. I would have been lost without her help.
I’ve thought of her often throughout the years and wish I could have found a way to talk to her again. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I am one of the many area military academy grads that credits my success to Jean’s mentorship. As a first generation college student, neither I nor my family had any idea how to navigate that daunting application process. Jean saw my drive and passion and took me under her wing, helping me to realize my lifelong dream. As a fellow GMHS grad and as a woman, she took extra pride in watching me succeed at the academy. That pride reflects back to the beautiful person she was, inside and out. She touched countless young lives in our area, always seeing the best in everyone she met. She was also a strong role model for young women dreaming to reach the stars. May we all leave this earth having the type of impact Jean has had on generations behind her. My deepest condolences to all her friends and family. Although Jean never showed a bias, I’d like to think she was always an Army fan:). Beat Navy!

I had the honor and pleasure of not only being a MHS Class of 92 member, but also one of Miss Bierbower's 8th grade English students. As a student who had just moved into the Muhlenberg district in my 8th grade year, Miss Bierbower immediately took me under her wing, welcomed me with kindness and compassion. Her love and dedication to "her kids" of 92' will be felt for a lifetime. Rest in peace Miss B, you more than earned your wings. Deepest sympathy to her entire family.

I have many fond memories from knowing Jeannie, especially in the days when I shared time with her and her mother Marie when living at 513 Windsor Street in Reading. Her high energy level personality and ability to get things done was amazing. And the love of her pets, and all animals, was another attribute that made her so special. May she rest in peace - my sympathy to all of her family.

Jean was instrumental in helping our daughter become a West Point Military Academy graduate. As parents who did not know anything about the academy, she was an angel that stepped forward aiding in the navigation of the complicated application process. She will always be in our hearts and minds. Our sympathy goes out her family and friends.

I was a neighbor to Jean for almost 12 years. It’s without question that Jean was one of the most interesting and loving people I’ve ever known. She loved, mentored and treated my children like they were her own. Jean’s interest in our high school and home town sports was second to none. She was the biggest Eagles and Phillies fan I knew no matter the standings. Each year Jean would always provide me with a new Phillies flag for my car. She loved opening day & rarely missed a game. Her love for animals was special. Jean had a special way of touching each of our hearts. She had a profound affect on all my children routinely helping them through personal, academic and professional challenges. Jean was a true friend to our family and so many other families. The world was a much more interesting and inspiring place with her in it. Jean will be terribly missed by anyone she called her friend, coached, taught or inspired. Jean was my neighbor, but more importantly Jean was our friend. I’m a better person today because I knew Jean.

It was in 1970,71,72 that A half dozen teachers ( Jean included) began their careers together at Muhlenberg. We were young, ambitious, healthy, joyous and building our lives. Then 50 years went by. I will always remember our golden years together. My deepest sympathy to Jean’s family and friends.

As a member of the MHS Class of ‘92, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from and be a student of Ms. Bierbower from 7th through 12th grade. She was a dedicated & innovative Teacher & Coach who gave so much of herself to better her students by challenging them, celebrating them, and helping to shape each one’s character. As an adult and parent of my own middle school & high school children, I appreciate (so much more today than I did then) her no-nonsense (but caring) attitude and tough skin. She will be remembered as an exceptional educator and positive influence on so many. Sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

One of my all-time favorite teachers and the MHS Class of ‘92 class advisor! Her obituary reads....”Ms. B was Class Advisor of the Class of 1992, whom she thought of as her own kids!” SHE SURE DID! I still got annual Christmas cards from her until just recently. My heart is broken!
