Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harold Glenn and Verda A. (Bru-baker) Cole.
She was the widow of Paige Thomas Engle, who died Dec. 6, 1984.
She was a hair stylist for 25 years, retiring in 1998. She operated the Joan Engle Hair Fashions at Mulberry and Oley streets, Reading from 1981-1985, and from 1993-1998 she went to her clients' homes to do their hair. She graduated from the Bryland Institute, Reading.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale, and was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Lee, wife of Douglas Werley, Blandon; her sister, Jacqueline Young, a guest at ManorCare, Sinking Spring; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Thomas Lee Engle, and her three brothers: Harold, Theodore and Donald Cole.
She is also survived by her loving companion, Joseph Pietrobone, with whom she resided; and his three daughters: Joanne Spanier, Whitfield, Mary Zeigenfuse, Sinking Spring, and Stephanie Manning, Mohnton; his two sons, Joseph Pietrobone Jr., Kutztown, and Jason Piet-robone, Sinking Spring; his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Avenue, Shillington today, August 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas F. Irwin Jr., her pastor, officiating. Interment in Robeson Church Cemetery, Plowville. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
