I remember the very first time I met Joan at the small apartment she and John lived in when they first came to Minersville. She made quite an impression on a high school junior. She and John were powerful influences throughout my life. Your Mom was a wonderful, caring, thoughtful person that always made me laugh. Hopefully she and John can now take those long walks together. My thoughts and prayers are with all the members of the Gurski family.

Lynn, Lori, John, Joan, Kathy, and Karen-My sincerest condolences to all of you. There are not many names that are a legacy, but the Gurski name is certainly one. Your parents were both amazing and I always had so much respect and admiration for your entire family. May your precious memories comfort you at this difficult time.

It was an honor for my mother-in-law and I to have worked with such a wonderful person and great nurse at Wernersville State Hospital. Joan was such a kind person and very proud of all of the accomplishments of her husband, children and grandchildren. She always had pictures to show and stories to tell about her family. I am able to reflect on some very fond memories from the past. So sorry to have heard of her passing. My deepest sympathies go out to the Gurski family.

I first met Joan when she was a student nurse at Ashland Hospital in the 1950's and I was an RN a few years older than her. She was a loving and caring person, but I also remember her lovely and very happy face when she told me she became engaged. Very sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy to the family of this great lady. I will always remember when the limo pulled up to take you home after your last working day at Wernersville. Rest in peace Joan...... you made life better for some of the poorest souls on earth. Truly an honor and privilege to work with you and know you as a friend.

I had the sincere pleasure of bringing Holy Communion to Mrs. Gurski for a number of years. Her smile would light her room at The Highlands when I would arrive. I will miss our chats and will fondly remember our last visit surrounded by part of her family. Take care [of us], Mrs. Gurski!

As a "64" graduate of Minersville High School and former North Street neighbor up the street, I remember Joan as being the quite behind the scene partner of her husband John. Although their primary lives were lived in Berks County at Wilson High, we here in Minersville were proud to be part of their lives and send our condolences to all their children. Joan and John were truly role models to those of us raising our own families. Joan will always be remembered as the consummate "Mother" many tried to emulate. Thought and prayers from all of us here in Schuylkill County.
