Born in Mt. Zion, PA, on June 19, 1928, Joseph was a son of the late Joseph J. and Eva (Klein) Strangarity.
He was retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Joseph served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. He enjoyed genealogy and was an avid sports fan, especially of football and basketball.
He is survived by six children: Dawn M. (Randy) Granger; Joseph W. (Marilou) Strangarity, MD; Christopher A. Strangarity; Andrea L. Strangarity; Rene C. (Harry) Davis; David T. (Christen Coscia) Strangar-ity; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, George Strangarity; three sisters: Rosemary Leiss, Joanne Witter and Josephine Gress; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan Granger, one great-grand-daughter, Joeli Grace Dougherty, and one brother, Anthony Strangarity.
Funeral Mass Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's, 202 East Lehman St., Lebanon, 17046. Interment at St. Gertrude's Cemetery. Viewing hours Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, 17042. Dear Family,
Joe was such a good neighbor. We will miss him. So glad I had a chat with him just weeks ago...God has a special blessing for him for the wonderful care to Andrea.
