November 17, 2016, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Jean (Koch) Eisele. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary in January 2017.
In addition to his wife, Karl is survived by his son, Brian Eisele, and his wife, Theresa, and his daughter, Sharon, wife of Lee High. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Vicki Ravert, Tim Eisele, Libby High and Alex High; and great-grandchildren: Dylan Baer, Samantha Baer, Devon Ravert, and Embrey Eisele.
Born March 29, 1920, in West Reading, Karl was the son of the late Herman and Anna (Brenner) Eisele.
He was predeceased by his sister, Klara (Eisele) Smith.
Karl graduated from Wilson High School and then
attended Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute before serving in the US Army. While in the army, Karl graduated from
Officer Candidate School as an Infantry Lieutenant and served on the Commanding General's Staff in Berlin,
Germany. He then went back to school and graduated in 1949 from the Pennsylvania State University.
He returned to Reading and managed the family retail hosiery business, becoming co-owner, CEO and President of Feel-Fine Shops until his retirement in 1980. During the 1960s and 70s, Karl served on the boards of Albright
College and Community General Hospital, was President of the Downtown Reading Merchants, was Vice-President of the Reading Chamber of Commerce and was a member of many other community organizations.
Karl was a long-time and actively involved member of West Lawn United Methodist, where he served for 12 years as Lay Leader and for more than 50 years on the
administrative board. Karl and Jean also served as the president of the Senior Wedding Ring.
Karl was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was a
Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Browns fan, but most of all, he was a devoted fan of Penn State Athletics, especially Penn State football, and attended home games with his family for over 35 years. He was a devoted husband and
father, always optimistic, and a true gentleman.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 22nd, 2016, at West Lawn United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Lawn United Church Memorial Fund, 15 Woodside Avenue, Reading, Pa. 19609.
