He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn A. (Jackowski) Schmale, with whom he just celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary on September 10. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Herman (Hank) Schmale and Betty (Esterly) Fortna.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schmale is survived by his son, Robert, husband of Jill Schmale of Exeter Twp. Other survivors include two sisters, Linda (Schmale), husband of Kenneth Eyrich of Muhlenberg Twp. and Louise (Schmale), widow of Richard Dease of Mohnton. He is also survived by nieces and a nephew.
Mr. Schmale was employed by the former Stanley G. Flagg Co. for 32 years and retired from Morgan Trailer in 2003.
Mr. Schmale loved to go to Delaware to the casino and to the Nascar races; he loved to watch horror movies and especially eat ice cream; but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends may extend their sympathy and respects to the Schmale family on Thursday September 18, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home, Inc. 239 South Ninth Street Reading PA 19602.
