Kyle Conrad Obituary

Kyle A. Conrad, 39, of Flying Hills, passed away peacefully in his residence surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 12, 2022. Born in West Reading, he was a son of Kate (Marks) Conrad and the late Curt Conrad. He was the loving husband of Lauren E. (Ludwig), whom he married on October 29, 2011. Kyle graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 2001 and from Elizabethtown College in 2005. During high school, Kyle was a multi-sport varsity athlete, playing soccer, basketball and baseball in addition to being a member of the high school concert choir. He received Berks County All-Division honors for basketball his senior year, and also served as co-captain for the West Reading Sacramento exchange tournament. Upon graduation, he also received various academic, athletic and community sponsored awards. Kyle continued his basketball career at Elizabethtown, scoring a career total of 1157 points and earning all-conference honors his junior and senior years. He helped his team win 3 conference championships and was twice named the team’s most valuable player. Since graduating from college, Kyle worked as a lease sales representative for both Penske and Ryder Transportation. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ of Shillington where he served as a youth leader. Basketball continued to be an important part of Kyle’s life into adulthood. He served as the varsity boys assistant coach at Brandywine Heights High School from 2010-2013 before becoming the junior varsity boys coach for Governor Mifflin High School. In 2018 Kyle was promoted to Mifflin’s head coach. Twice he was recognized as the Berks County Division I Coach of the Year and led the Mustangs to the county finals in 2020. In 2022, he received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Reading-Berks Basketball Association. Kyle loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially during beach trips to Sea Isle City. An avid sports fan, Kyle enjoyed following Philadelphia sports teams and the San Antonio Spurs. Those closest to him always admired Kyle’s great singing voice and ability to recall countless song lyrics and movie quotes. A fierce competitor in everything from organized sports to video games, Kyle knew how to win and undoubtedly won the affection, adoration and respect of everyone he came in contact with throughout his life. But above all, his kindness, compassion, love, and faith will serve as his most lasting impressions. Left to treasure Kyle’s memory are his wife, Lauren; his children, Logan and Carson; his mother, Kate; his sister, Sara, wife of Adam Bechtold, of Chester Springs, and their children, George Kyle and Greta, as well as a large extended family. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. A public Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kyle’s memory may be made to his church, Immanuel United Church of Christ, 99 S Waverly St, Shillington, PA 19607, or Immanuel-UCC.org/give. Please note the Conrad Family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
