Leo Schaner Obituary

Leo R.R. Schaner Sr., 74, Reading, passed away Dec. 6, 2008, in St. Joseph Medical Center.

Born June 24, 1934, in Greenwich Township, he was a son of the late Curtis and Florence (Benecioff) Schaner.

He worked as a steelworker in several local foundries.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanne (Smith) Schaner, Topton; and his children: Leo R.R. Schaner Jr., Hamburg; Floyd E. Schaner, Meyersville; Curlie M. Schaner, Marie M. (Schaner) Terry, Mary A. (Schaner) Lindsey, Russell E.L. Schaner Sr., Lucille J. (Schaner) Mills, Pamela B.A. Schaner and Peter D.J. Schaner, all of Reading; and Clarence S. Schaner, Reading, with whom Mr. Schaner resided.

Other survivors include a brother, Vernon C. Schaner Sr., Lenhartsville.

There are also 32 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John J. Schaner and Clayton C.C. Schaner; and four brothers.

Friends will be received Wednesday at 10 a.m., with services at 11 a.m., in Auman Funeral Home, Reading. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
