Michael Sweeney Obituary


Michael A. Sweeney Sr., 59, of Fleetwood, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp.

Born May 5, 1955 in Pine Bank, PA, he was a son of Grace J. (Kent) Sweeney, Waynesburg, PA and the late Allen K. Sweeney.

Michael was a Master Sergeant in the US Army, serving our country for 23 years.

He worked at East Penn Manufacturing, Co, Inc., Lyons, as a Highrater on the Finishing Line in building A2, last working in December.

He was a graduate of Waynesburg High School.

Surviving, in addition to his mom, are his sons, Michael A. Sweeney Jr., Sherwood, Oregon and Nathaniel C. Sweeney, Fleetwood. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Sophie J. Sweeney, two step-grandsons, Colby and Parker Stephens, brothers: John Sweeney, Robert Sweeney and Jody Sweeney, all of Waynesburg and a sister, Trish (Sweeney) Eddy, Waynesburg.

Services for Michael will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, Fleetwood is honored to be entrusted with Michael's services.

Grew up with Mike and his siblings in Pine Bank...went to school with them for years...great family....always enjoyed the fast pitch softball games at Brave back in the 60's...Mike was one of the good guys....RIP my military brother....I will catch up with you on the other side....HAND SALUTE

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Mike for 6 years at Deka. He was a good friend. We both loved the Steelers. Also we spent alot of mornings fishing after work. I could not believe this news. Rest in peace my friend. So sorry again.
