He was the husband of Carol M. (Bard) Heinly. They were married June 20, 1970.
Born in Albany Township, he was a son of the late Harold J. Heinly and Jennie M. (Long) Kunkle.
Robert honorably and faithfully served our country as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob was an optician for 60 years. He spent 30 years with Bausch & Lomb, Reading, and was the owner/operator of Robert J. Heinly Inc., Reading, until his retirement in 2001. Mr. Heinly served as a past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Dispensing
Opticians and also served as the president of the Berks County Association of the Blind for 30 years. Robert was involved in many other community organizations
including: Charter Member of the Kutztown HOBOs (Help Others Before Ourselves) where he served as a past
president; past president of Kutztown Lions Club;
Kutztown Fire Company where he served as vice president, financial secretary, and participated in their bowling
league; Kutztown Borough Zoning Board; Lyons Fire
Company Senior Softball League, Checkered Flag Fan Club, Kutztown Little League coach, Kutztown High School
basketball statistician (1957-1964).

SURVIVORS: In addition to his wife of 48 years, Carol, Robert is survived by daughters: Jennifer L. (Heinly) Kurelia, companion of Jim Wright, Kutztown, Roslyn A. Heinly, companion of Nick Dreibelbis, Kutztown, Carol B. Adam, Ashland, Oregon; sons, Jeffrey L., husband of
RoseMary V. (Vetter) Heinly, Sinking Spring, and Bruce D. Adam, companion of Lisa J. Geiger, Fleetwood. Other
survivors include grandchildren: Abigaile, Owen, Ian,
Jason, Shannon, Jed, Olivia, Jordan, Christian, and
Madeline; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Bradley, Ellie and Nova. There is also a nephew, Kenneth Heinly; and a niece, Anna Fanja.
Robert was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth and Leroy Heinly.
SERVICES: The family will host a Celebration of Life "Happy Hour" on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the banquet hall of the Kutztown Fire
Company, 310 Noble Street, Kutztown 19530.
CONTRIBUTIONS: The family requests contributions be made to the HOBOs, 325 Trexler Avenue, Kutztown, PA 19530.
