He was the husband of Lois (Vandevort) Marquardt whom he married in 1999.
Born in Flushing, NY he was the son of the late Anthony and Marian (Bartkus) Marquardt.
Robert was a 1954 graduate of Adelphi University, Garden City, NY.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1950.
Robert worked as a salesman for 15 years in various textile industries in New York City. In 1970 he joined Gudebrod, Inc., of Pottstown as a salesman and over the next 30 years held the positions of Sales Manager, Corporate Secretary, Executive Vice President, President and retired as a Chairman of the Board in 2000. He also served on the Board of Directors for both The Thread Institute and The Sport Fishing Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Charles Marquardt; Paul, husband of Lisa Marquardt; Alison, wife of Michael Colton. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Grant Marquardt, Alexander Marquardt, and Corinne Marquardt; step-sons: Benjamin, husband of Jennifer Vandevort; Christian, husband of Nicki Vandevort.
Robert is predeceased by his first wife, Alice Gudebord, whom he married in November of 1955; siblings, Anthony Marquardt, Eugene Marquardt and Marian Holian.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends and family may call from 4 to 5 p.m., in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the The Salvation Army: 301 S. 5th St., Reading, PA 19605 and The Hope Rescue Mission: 645 N. 6th Street, Reading, PA 19601.
