He was the husband of the late Christine M. (Gaus) Slowik, who died July 1, 2001.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Joseph G. and Lottie M. (Soltysik) Slowik.
He worked for the Reading Eagle for 46 years, retiring May 24, 1998 as the Mailroom Supervisor.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Mill-mont, and a graduate of Reading Catholic High School.
He was a member of Kenhorst Fire Co., and enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing and trap shooting.
He is survived by son, Joseph R., husband of Terese Slowik, Exton; daughter, Michelle M., wife of Ed Morris, Cumru Twp.; sister, Marianne J., wife of Frank Faust, Blandon; and three granddaughters: Melissa Lutz, Jessica Slowik and Aimee Slowik.
Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 501 Summit Ave., Millmont, today 10 a.m., with Rev. Larry J. Hess celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Reading. Viewing from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1 East Lancaster Avenue, Shillington, on today from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
