Ryan Matlack Obituary
Ryan C. Matlack, 44, of Mohnton, passed away August 28, 2013.
Ryan was the widower of Tamara (Shelton) Matlack.
He was born in Reading on May 16, 1969, a son of Ronald N. Matlack and the late Helen E. (Dickenson) Matlack.
Ryan is survived by his two brothers, Ronald M. Matlack and Randolph C. Matlack, both of Mohnton; his sister, Rhonda C. Matlack of MA; two nieces and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday August 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Mt. Zion AME Church, 404 Zion Hill Rd. P.O. Box 218, Atglen, PA 19310. Inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. Family gathering will be 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Matlack family... I'm the best friend to his late wife Tammy. I knew Ryan and Tammy both for most of my life. And threw Tammy I got to know Ryan. And he was a great person. A loving person. Last I spoke with him, he expressed how much he missed Tammy. I tried encouraging him but I could never feel his pain or even understand because. Tammy was my friend but that was his lifelong partner and wife and friend. I just found out of his passing because I ironically was going to check on him. I'm deeply saddened by this because Ryan was such a good man. I know he had his struggles but he was an awesome person and he will be surely missed.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Ryan's passing. He was such a gentle, caring soul with a big smile and hearty laugh... Always quick to share a story or express compassion for others in need of a friend.

My heavy heart has just heard of the passing of this fine man that I knew since our young days at Brecknock Elementary School and then later at summers at the pool. My condolences to the family. I keep you in my thoughts.

I only knew Ryan a little as he often sat behind me in church. I saw him as a gentle, kind, soft spoken man.

Ron,Randy and Rhonda, I was so sorry to hear of Ryan's passing. I will always remember one visit at Aunt Gail and Uncle Johns. The room was full of family, laughter and food. Now Ryan is with his mother. He has no pain, no stress. He is surrounded by his mother Helen and our heavenly Father. Ryan is at peace. My hope and prayer is for you the living to find peace in remembering the good times.

I only got to know Ryan for a few years while he was living in Amesbury - but in those few years I got to know a man of deep compassion, care and faith. My heart was heavy for the grief he carried and my heart was light for his gentle presence, smiles and hugs. While I miss Ryan a lot I give thanks that he is whole, free, at peace, surrounded in God's eternal love.

Rhonda, Randy, and Ron,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You Matlacks all were wonderful to be with to witness a family full of love, kindness, laughter, great holiday celebratory feasts, and support you shared for one another.
I have wonderful memories of us all together in Mohnton, the closeness that you all shared as a family and the fun times we all had.
I shall always remember his smiling face, the Windmill Restaurant, where he so cheerfully was chef, serving me a delicious "special" at the counter that he made and the joyful time we had at the north shore beach.
It was a sunny day at the beach with Rhonda, Darina, Robin, Danaja and Nyesha. He had the biggest smile on his face as we were swimming and running into the waves, and Ryan said "this is the best day of my life"....we all laughed together with the love in our hearts, the joy of a perfect day, togetherness, and food, (of course). A day would not be complete without a Matlack feast. I will miss him dearly....My love and with a prayer that faith will help you see Ryan's passing beyond your sight to live eternally. If there is anything at all I can do, please let me know.

I am SO very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, Ryan. He always had a larger than life presence in the group of Maple Grove friends, and will forever be cemented in all of my fondest teen memories. His memory will linger :). Ron, Randy and Rhonda, I am so sorry for your loss. Ryan was someone I always held near and dear to my heart. I loved him and considered him family and am just heartbroken and devastated by his passing. I feel blessed because I recently reconnected with him, but I'm saddened because our time together was cut short. Ryan touched many lives and was loved by many more. I will always remember Ryan when I think of growing up in Maple Grove, riding the bus to Jr/Sr High and learning about Rock n Roll through his influence. RIP friend.
