Sandra Hanson Obituary

Died at Phoebe Berks on Sept. 18th, 2022, at age 90. Formerly of Reiffton. Daughter of Harlan D. and Ruth R. Post, widow of Thomas L. Hanson. Survived by her daughter Cynthia L. Hanson of Phoenixville, her sister Eileen Wilson of Knoxville, and her brother- and sister-in law and niece and nephew. Since her husband’s death in 1985, she was a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association, and volunteered with them for many years. Originally an elementary school teacher, she became a school librarian, working for many years in the Pottstown school district. She was a champion of reading and the written word, most especially in books, and helped establish the Exeter Community Library in 1999. She was a member of the Friends of the Library until the end of her life, as well as the Friends of the Berks County Libraries, and had served as President of the Friends of the Exeter Community Library. She was devoted to the power and magic of storytelling, as well as the power of friendship. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 15th at 11:00 AM, at Pennside Presbyterian Church, 253 North 25th Street, Reading PA 19606. Sandy was a wonderful educator and a gem of a human being. I was privileged to work with her early in my career. So grateful for all that I learned from her. May she Rest In Peace. Sincerely, Jayne Pollock

My dear friend and coworker at Exeter Community Library, you were the hardest worker and kindest soul I have ever met. We both retired and I missed you very much. I know that God has you in his book of life and I look forward to meeting you again in another life. Much love and affection from Darlene Mest and family

Dearest Sandy, what a loving and cheerful soul you have been as long as we have known you. Intelligent, kind, cheery, giving, witty, and a wonderful housemate to our dear cat, Sam, who you lovingly cared for during his "mature" years.. As you told us, he was your pal and confident for his many wonderful years living with you. You made his life happier and richer, as you did with so many humans. We love you, as we know GOD does surely to a good and faithful servant. Marti and Ralph
