Shirley Mae Brendlinger

1934 - 2023

Shirley Mae (Becker) Brendlinger passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was the wife of the late Dr. Darwin "Bren" L. Brendlinger, USAF (retired). They had been married for 29 years when Bren passed away in May of 2019. Born on July 25, 1934 in Reading, PA, Shirley was the daughter of the late Charles and Verna (Rothenberger) Becker. She was the sister of the late Col. Ronald C. Becker, USA (retired). She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Larry A. Brossman. Shirley received her Nursing degree (R.N.) from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a nurse in Reading, PA and then Boston, MA until the birth of her first child. Shirley's greatest passion was her family and she devoted herself to creating a loving home for her children and, later, her extended family. She loved hosting family get-togethers, was a fabulous cook, and enjoyed visiting the Jersey Shore. She was very creative and took great pleasure in crafting and beautifully decorating her home for the holidays. Shirley saw the best in everyone. She treated everyone she met with grace, appreciation and respect. She was the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Shirley will be dearly missed by her children, Cheryl Fassak (Gary), Denise Drozd (Ron), Lisa Staub (Brian) and Brian Brossman (Heather); and Bren's children, Amy Boyer (Peter), Lori Siggins (Steve), and Eric Brendlinger (Christi). She will be remembered lovingly by her combined family of 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Shirley's family welcomes relatives and friends to pay their respects on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 10:00 am, until the start of her Funeral Service at 11:30 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd (at Holland Rd). Her interment will take place immediately after at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. www.Fluehr.com
