Shirley was born in Buchannon, W.V., on July 24, 1937, to Oscar Ferrill Butler and Elizabeth (McCray) Butler. She graduated from Troutville High School, in Troutville, Va.
Shirley worked for many years as an administrative
assistant at T.A.H. Construction, of Lancaster, Pa. She was a fifty-five year member of New Holland United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was on the
administrative council and various other committees.
Shirley was an active and avid member of Akron Card Club. She loved her family and friends (and horse racing and traveling). She traveled to India twice as a missionary. She adored her cat, Callie Jane.
Surviving Shirley are four children: Wanda G. Givler, wife of Robert I. Steffey Jr., of Reading, Pa., Kevin Ross Givler, of Columbus, Ohio, Bradley Dean Givler, husband of Heidi C. Givler, of Lenhartsville, Pa., and Kirk Douglas Givler, of Splendora, Texas; four grandchildren: Sean R. Steffey, of Reading, Pa., Shannon M. McBride, of Reading, Pa., Marc D. Givler, of Columbus, Ohio, and Eric M. Givler, of
Columbus, Ohio; one great-grandson, Andrew Martin McBride Jr., of Reading, Pa.; and two sisters, Loretta, wife of Gary L. Zimmerman, of Ephrata, Pa., and Cynthia, wife of Jeffery Mundy, of Troutville, Va.
In addition to her parents and husband, Arthur Lee Givler, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Givler and four siblings.
Friends may gather at the Paul L. Gravenor Home for
Funerals, 100 W. Main Street, Ephrata, PA on Sunday,
September 16, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. An
additional viewing and Funeral Service will take place on Monday, September 17, 2018, at New Holland United Methodist Church, 120 W. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Memory Gardens,
Ephrata, PA will take place following the service.
