Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Siegfried and Margot (Geller) Herbert.
He was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church and was a 1980 graduate of Oley Valley High School. He was a member of the Evergreen Country Club and the Teutonia Lodge #367, F&AM.
He was the owner of Ziggy Electrical and Maintenance, Ruscombmanor Township, for many years and last worked as an office assistant at Sovereign Bank, Reading.
He is survived by a brother, Oswald Herbert, West Reading, and three sisters: Susanna Gift and Maria Butler, both of Reading, and Irene Garipoli, Lititz. There are also several nieces and nephews.
A Masonic Service conducted by Teutonia Lodge will begin on Friday at 1 p.m. in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main St., Oley, with a memorial service immediately following. Rev. Marilyn E. Hasemann will officiate. There will be no viewing.
Friends may call on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amityville.

Buz and I will miss seening Zig and his Mother, when we come back to PA.
we would see them almost every Sunday at the Evergreen. Hopefully, he is now resting in peace.

Mr Herbert was a very soft spoken and kind man. He was always very sweet to us and had
a " Hello and How are you" when he came to our agency. He was humbly thankful for anything others did for him. We will miss him here.
