Sonia Flicker-Miller

Sonia Kay Flicker-Miller, Ed.D., 82, of

Exeter Township, passed away June 15, 2018, at Reading Hospital and Medical

Center, West Reading.

She was the widow of Robert Levi Miller Sr., who died March 28, 1968.

Born January 9, 1936, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late George Edwin and Ida Mae (Cranage) Flicker.

Sonia was a 1953 graduate of Pottsville High School; a 1957 graduate of Albright College; a 1964 graduate of

Lehigh University where she earned her M.Ed. in

psychology and a 1986 graduate of Lehigh University, where she earned her Ed.D. in education.

She began her career in the Reading School District as a teacher and retired in 2002 after many years serving

Exeter Township School District as a psychologist and guidance counselor.

Sonia was a member of United Methodist Women's

International Organization where she was also an officer; Berks Schools Counselor Association; Pennsylvania

Psychological Association; Berks Area Psychological

Society; MENSA International Association and Soroptimist International Association and the Alumni Board of Albright College. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pottsville and an

associate member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Sonia touched the lives of many people throughout her years. She was a selfless individual who did all she could to improve the lives of others. She was especially fortunate to have her three grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Sonia was a unique person who was truly one of a kind and will surely be missed by many.

Surviving are her two children, Robert Levi Miller Jr., and his wife, Ann, of Muhlenberg Township; and Ida Mae (Miller) Schiaroli, of Elverson.

Other survivors include her three grandchildren: Silvio Peter and Sophia Maria Schiaroli, and Robert Levi Miller, III.

Services will be held Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.

Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9-10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery,

Muhlenberg Township.
