Stella Cooper Obituary

Stella M. Cooper, 95, formerly of Sinking Spring, died Nov. 17, 2008, at 4:50 a.m. in Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she had resided since September 2007.

She was the wife of Daniel H. Cooper, who died June 20, 1962.

Born in Cumru Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ellen (Boone) Matz.

She was a house mother for Overbrook School for the Blind, Philadelphia, from 1968 to 1988. Prior to that, she worked at Bethany Children's Home, Womelsdorf.

She was a member of Wyomissing United Church of Christ, Gouglersville. She enjoyed crocheting and caring for people.

She provided personal care services to people in their homes and at the former Hassler Home, Cumru Township. She enabled elderly people to stay in their own homes.

She is survived by two sons, Donald M., husband of Charlotte Cooper, Cumru Township, and Arthur M. Cooper, companion of Flora Willette, Riverview Park.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren: Ellen Cooper, Donna Brewer, Daniel Cooper, Scott Cooper, Scott Vaughn, Robin Temple, Maria Ziolkowski and Tanya McDonald; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Carl M. Cooper; and two brothers, Harris and Raymond Matz.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 1 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, with the Rev. Elmer B. Reinhold Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, 10 to 11 a.m., in the funeral home.
