He was the husband of Susan Ann (Nunemaker) Pienta. Born in Reading, he was a son of David Pienta of Florida and the late Shirley (Hunsberger) Burke.
Steven was a graduate of Reading High School and was a meat cutter all his life, lastly employed by Redner's Markets.
In addition to his father and wife, Steven is survived by: three sons: Joseph James of Exeter Township; Jason, husband of Stephanie, of San Antonio, TX; and Steven Wayne of Shillington; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Olivia Grace, both of Shillington; two grandchildren, Bryan Pienta and Jett Carter Pienta; and two sisters, Cindy Smith of Maryland and Tammy Burke of Reading.
He is also survived by his loving in-laws, Sallyann and Gary Frank.
Steven was a selfless man. The type of person that would give you the shirt off his back, even if it meant he would forever be shirtless. He loved his family and friends, with a passion so great that it could never be defined by the words that characterize him as a man.
He could teach without saying a word, make you laugh like no one else, love without question, and be present without being present. I have never met a person that didn't absolutely adore him or become a better person for knowing him.
Although he was met with an insurmountable fight, he will never truly be gone. His soul lives on through the countless lives he touched.
Rest in the peaceful serenity that you deserve. We love you Dad, Pop-Pop, Steve, Son, Friend, Hunny and Shpevy.
A Celebration of Steven's life will be held at a later date. Interment private at the request of the family.

The first time I met Steve he was 16 and I was 15. We met at the Jr. Skateaway. He gave me a picture that said, "To Debi, my sister that I don't even know." I never for got that. I only saw him one other time. Even though we didn't grow up together, I still know him in my heart and I truly believe we will be dancing and playing together one day in the grassy fields of heaven." I love you Steve.

I never met Steve but his son is my son-in-law and if a man could raise, teach, and instill the kindness of heart in a son like Jason, then I know he was a man among men, a teacher among wise men, and a good father. His sons and daughters are the highest compliments of a dad. My deepest condolences to the family.

Words could never express the amount of gratitude I hold for having you as my teacher. Thank you for showing me the way. Your life will forever live on through my actions. I will never forget the great times we had fishing on opening day, hiking up the mountains, talking on the deck, and learning to play every sport you were capable of teaching me. I remember playing mud football in the backyard even if meant we had no grass that summer. I remember you giving your fishing rod to a kid that only had a stick and some string. You cried like a baby after giving it to him saying, " every kid deserves his own fishing rod." I remember you holding your grandson with the worlds biggest smile on your face. That smile, if everyone could see it, was the type of smile that made you feel like everything for the moment was perfect and exactly how it should be. You are a great man with A trusting personality and kind soul. If I could only be half the man you were I would be better off than most. I love you to the moon and back. Rest in peace Pops. I'll see you again in this life or the next.
