I spoke with Bill at a Wilson game a few years ago.
I told him that he was the only teacher in junior high whose class provided discussions with my Dad. He told me, naming names, that he spent extra prep time for us because we were excited about daily evens, ranging from Viet Nam to Batman. He told me he had a hard time keeping up with (actually he confessed he was really nervous) fielding questions and comments from Joe, Joe, John, Ron, Todd, and me to make the current events part of his class meaningful. I told him he had done so and I thanked him on behalf of Wilson Junior High Section 7-6 Social Studies in 1964-65.
Thank you again, Bill, for bringing classroom sparks to create flames of education.

Rest in peace my beloved friend and Wilson sports giant. He was a social studies teacher, Wilson J.V. basketball coach, and playground leader in our little community of West Wyomissing years ago when me and Scott Hagy were growing up there as kids. He greatly influenced many kids and students in our area and was greatly loved by many with his kind and gentle personality. To me and Scott Hagy he was like a big brother to us growing up and someone we could always talk to for anything related to Wilson sports now and also in the very early days of the 1950s and late 1040s I really think he is the last great connection of vast knowledge Wilson had to our deep and rich past sports history from the very early days. He will be greatly missed by me and Scott Hagy and by many Wilson fans everywhere. We mourn him and loved him deeply like a family member. We are both devastated and terribly saddened by our friend's passing. He connected all of us to Wilson's early sports glory's and all the way to this present day. You will always live in our Wilson hearts forever because we deeply love you. GOD BLESS YOU BILL. GO DAWGS FOREVER.

So sad to learn of Mr. Hoffman's passing. He was an outstanding teacher whose passion for U.S. History was limitless. In many ways Mr. Hoffman was responsible for taking my interest in American History to new
levels in my college studies and professional career.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories, Mr. Hoffman. It was a true honor to be counted as one of your students.

My dear friend from my first day of teaching at Central Jr. High. You had the room across from me and would always come over and make faces through my window. You could always make me smile! Rest in peace, Billy! Until we meet again.

Mr. Hoffman was my eighth grade social studies teacher. He was very down to earth, and a caring individual, teacher and coach. He made his students feel important and helped to make junior high school a comfortable and welcoming place! I will always have fond memories of him.

He and his parents lived across the street from the house where I grew up. Many years later, he was a kind and friendly neighbor to my aging parents. He was a very good man and teacher.

I am very saddened over Bill's passing. He was a coach, mentor and good friend to me. Over the years I enjoyed experiencing those occasions where Bill was present. He was, indeed - a fount of information about Wilson, our community and life in general. He had a whimsical, wise view of so many things. I know he was a good and highly respected teacher. I shall miss him greatly!
