Paul Roe Obituary

Paul "Bud" Roe was called by the Heavenly Father to join his wife Helen in eternal life on Thursday, August 18th. Bud was born in Parkerton, Wyoming on January 25, 1923. He was a proud WWII veteran, was actively involved in the American Legion, and loved his beloved country. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Helen; father, Paul Eli Roe; mother, Carol Windle; sister, Ruth Hammond and grandson Robbie. He is survived by his four children Judy, Jim, Jack, and Jeff; sister Patty Barghaer of Covina; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Bud was a member of Lucerne Community Church.
Bud and Helen were married on December 9, 1944 in Ely, Nevada. Following the war, they moved to Sacramento where Bud was an aircraft inspector at McClelland Air Force Base. All four children were born at Sutter Hospital in Sacramento. Bud joined NASA and the family moved to San Jose, California. Upon retirement, Bud and Helen moved to Lucerne in 1977. He was an agent with Noble Realty where he worked with his brother-in-law, Bill Jones. The love of his life was Helen and he was her caregiver until her death in 2005.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at the Lucerne Community Church, 5870 E. Highway 20, in Lucerne. A military service and interment will be at Upper Lake Cemetery at 2 p.m.

We wanted to let the family of Paul know that an anonymous donor donated money in the name of Paul Roe to help toward buying new windows for our church auditorium. We're praying for your family. God bless you.

To have known Bud was to have known a bit of heaven. Bud was one of my first Lucerne Hardware customers. We had an instant repore because of our love for Jesus Christ. We would pray over friends and family members as well as other people in the community. When I needed an 'up lift', Bud was always good for a 'lift up'.
He never tired of sharing his faith. The song "Onward Christian Soldiers" was written for Bud. He was a true soldier of Christ.
It is not "good-bye" old friend, but see you later in heaven.
A brother in Christ,

I really enjoyed getting to know Bud over the years, he was a very interesting man. His love of country and family were his priorities. We will all miss him so much.

Bud was my beloved uncle and besides loving Helen and his four children, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ most of all. I will miss him but look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

Bud was not just a WWII vet. He was at Tinian and saw the A-bomb loaded aboard the Enola Gay. He also flew previously with Col Paul Tibbetts. We have lost an eyewitness to history.
