Albert Saucier Obituary

Albert Saucier, 77, of Plainville and Barefoot Bay, Fla., died surrounded by his family Sept. 25, 2010, at John Dempsey Hospital.

He was born in Eagle Lake, Maine on Oct. 14, 1932, one of nine children to the late Francis and Marie (Thibeault) Saucier. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He married his childhood sweetheart, Viola (Arsenault), at the age of 19, sharing 58 years of love and devotion, and raised a loving family of four. They resided in Plainville for 35 years, before fulfilling their dream of wintering in Barefoot Bay, Fla. and their summers at the Plainville Campgrounds for the last 23 years. An active member of the campground association, he leaves many happy memories of social events and cookouts, and wide circle of friends. He was employed for 32 years at New Departure in Bristol, retiring as a supervisor in 1987. In addition, he served as a supernumerary officer with the Plainville Police Department for over 10 years. He and Viola enjoyed many years of traveling, including cruises and many cross country trips and camping adventures in their R.V. He was an active member of the American Legion in Barefoot Bay, and in his later years, enjoyed golfing and keeping in touch with family and friends on his computer. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who loved nothing more than be surrounded by his family, all who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his wife, Viola, he leaves his children, Pamela Gaski, of Farmington, Michael and his wife, Theresa, of Southington, Jeffrey and his wife, Darlene, of Bristol, and Glenn and his wife, Kimberly, of Plainville; his adored grandchildren, Richard and his wife, Susan, James, Jason and his wife, Julia, Allissa, Adam, Brian and his wife, Amy, Jennifer, Nicholas and his wife, Michelle, Amanda, and Jonathan; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dylan, Christopher, Sophia, Leah, and William; his sister, Laura Saucier, of Maine; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful four-legged friend, "Katie" who always brought a smile to his face.

The funeral was held Sept. 29, 2010, at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Committal will be at a later date in Eagle Lake. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
