Anthony J. Janeczek

BOXFORD, Mass. - Mr. Anthony J. Janeczek, 90, a resident of Boxford, Mass., died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Ozycz) Janeczek to whom he was married for 63 years.

Born in Meriden, Conn., Jan. 29, 1922, Anthony was the son of the late John Janeczek and Hattie (Katuzny) Janeczek; he attended Meriden schools and was a 1936 graduate of St. Stanislaus School as well as a 1941 graduate of the Meriden Trade School. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church, Meriden, and St. Rose of Lima, Topsfield, Mass. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy with assignments in the South Pacific during World War II and in North Africa during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he worked for many years as a Tool and Die Maker in Connecticut for the Pratt & Whitney Co., the International Silver Co., Raymond Engineering Co., and for the Unimax Switch Company. He resided in Meriden, for 84 years before moving to Boxford, Mass., in 2006 to be closer to family; he was avid gardener, enjoyed golf, traveling and watching his grandchildren grow, and always looked forward to annual family vacations at the Rhode Island shore. He was a lifetime honorary member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans and the Y's Men of the YMCA in Meriden, and a member of the American Legion Post 255, Topsfield, Mass., where he enjoyed the friendship of many, especially Robert Shamroth.

In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by his daughters, Justine Stagon, of West Hartford and her husband, John, Virgianne Baker, of Boxford, Mass., and her husband, Paul; his sons, Anthony Janeczek Jr., of Westford, Mass., and his wife, Anne Marie, and David Janeczek, of Pelham, N.H. and his fiancé, Ann Schnorbus; six grandchildren, Craig Janeczek and Brittany Janeczek, of Pelham, N.H., Kathryn Janeczek and Stephanie Janeczek, of Westford, Mass., and Paul Baker and Michael Baker, of Boxford, Mass. He was the uncle to many nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; and was also the brother to the late Josephine Krzmenski, Sophie Danovich, Henrietta Kulinski, Joseph Janeczek, John Janeczek, and Andrew Janeczek.

His funeral Mass will be held in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield, Mass., Friday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62), Danvers, Mass. Burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden, Conn. A future date will be announced for a memorial service at St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden, Conn.
