Arnold Badorek Obituary

Arnold "Arn" R. Badorek, 86, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, July 2, 2021 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Arn was born in Meriden on June 10, 1935 to the late Edward and Antonette (Bystrak) Badorek. He had been the loving husband of Lorraine (Pisk) Badorek for 58 years. Arnold proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 during his first tour of duty. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division Headquarters Co. at Fort Knox, KY and became a tank driver. In addition, he was a member of the 3rd Armored Division honor guard, which performed at various locations in the United States and Germany. After being released from the U.S. Army, he majored in electronics at the New England Technical Institute of Connecticut and graduated in June 1960. On his second tour of duty from 1961 to 1962, he was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he was assigned to the 197th Field Artillery Division, a support unit for the 82nd Airborne Division. After his honorable discharge, he held engineering positions at various electronic firms and then retired from Data Products New England. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing; watching the NFL, UConn basketball, NASCAR; and attending sports car racing events at Lime Rock Park. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and will always be remembered for being a loving and supportive father and grandfather. He would regularly attend his grandchildren's sporting and school events. In addition to his wife, Arn is survived by two sons, Rob Badorek and his wife Denise of Durham, and Jim Badorek and his wife Heidi of Granby; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Lauren Badorek of Granby; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edmund Badorek. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arn's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
