Barbara J. Del Favero
Barbara J. Del Favero (Michalowski), age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in New Britain, Connecticut and was a graduate of New Britain High School.
Barbara married Richard R. Del Favero in 1958, and they settled in Meriden, Connecticut. Barbara worked in the family business, Del Favero Builders, Inc., for many years while raising their five children. In the late 80's she and Richard moved to their vacation home in Derby, Vermont, where soon after they purchased the Hayward Farm, and raised beef cattle for over thirty years while enjoying the peaceful beauty of rural life.
In her leisure time Barbara enjoyed spending countless hours in the kitchen, trying out new recipes or making some favorites such as cheesecake or making that last dozen Christmas cookies. Music was Barbara's passion. She enjoyed singing and dancing, especially to the music of her era.
In 2019, Barbara returned to Connecticut where she became a resident at The Landing of North Haven. While there, she formed many close friendships and embraced an active lifestyle in spite of her many health challenges. She delighted in playing cards and bingo, attending shows and concerts, taking trips to the casino, and bringing joy to those around her.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Richard R. Del Favero. She is survived by her five children, Jeff Del Favero (Denise), Linda Morasutti (Robert Lee), Robbin Cabelus (Andrew Copley), Joyce Gomez (Tony) and Laureen Seoane (Carlos); twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Arlene Decker.
Barbara's warmth and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends. "Live life to its fullest, enjoy every moment God has given us, and sing until the music stops" …that is how Barbara would like to be remembered.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Landing of North Haven as well as Connecticut Hospice (Branford) for their exceptional care especially over the last several months.
