Bertrand Williams Obituary
Bert was born in New Haven on Feb. 8, 1921, the son of the late Bert L. and Elizabeth (Hulsman) Williams. Bert served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper and was stationed in France. Upon his return home, Bert worked as a carpenter for Tom Williams Construction for many years before working for the Williams Painting Company until his retirement in his mid-seventies. His love at home was tending to his vegetable garden and mowing his lawn. He enjoyed time with his family camping, hiking and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Bert was a long time active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Northford.
In addition to his wife, Wanda, Bert leaves to cherish his memory his five children including Leslie Williams (Larry McClure,) of Wallingford, and Brent (Stacey) Williams, of Nantucket, Mass.; as well as three children from his first marriage to Evelyn Williams, Pamela Williams Schontag, of Clinton, Gary (Joan) Williams, of Wallingford, and Debra Williams, of Wallingford. Bert also leaves his eight grandchildren, Carie (Mark) Scagliarini, Jake Schontag, Corinne (Jeremy) Knickerbocker, Matthew Williams, Tucker and Drew McClure, and Paige and Riley Williams; as well as four great-grandchildren, Connor, Gavin, and Garrett Scagliarini and Harper Lee Knickerbocker.
Donations in memory of Bert can be made to St. Andrew's Church, P.O. Box 96, Northford, CT 06472. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 29, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1382 Middletown Ave., in Northford. All are asked to go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Northford Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family on Sunday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. We were so saddened to hear about Uncle Bert's passing. He had such an incredible spirit & know that he will be sorely missed by all of you. We pray that you find the strength to get through your grief. May you find some comfort as you surround yourselves with your loving family & close friends. We really wish we didn't live so far away, as we feel bad that we won't be able to attend his ceremony. Just know we are praying for you all & send our love...especially to you, Aunt Wanda! My heatfelt sympathy to Bert's family and friends. We saw him most at Tuck and Drew's ball games. He really enjoyed watching them. He was a nice man and I know he will be missed very much. May it be of comfort to know he is now resting in God's arms.

We were so sad to learn of Bert's passing. We feel lucky to have met him many years ago at Brent and Stacey's wedding. Bert was a good man and will be sorely missed.
