Clara Janicki

WALLINGFORD - Clara Tatara Janicki, 81, beloved wife of Edward W. Janicki, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the Hartford Hospital.

Born in Three Rivers, Mass., May 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Bryda Tatara, she had been a lifelong Wallingford resident. Clara attended Washington Street School and was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School. She was a seamstress at area dress companies for many years and was also the bookkeeper for her son at the Country Club Garage in Wallingford for 25 years. She was a parishioner of SS. Peter & Paul Church in Wallingford, a member of the Ladies Guild, the Pierogi Ladies and Quilt Makers of the parish and was a member of the American Legion, John Siedlicki Post No. 187, Ladies Auxiliary and the Polish National Alliance, Group No. 513, both of Wallingford. Clara also spent many hours crocheting things for her family and friends.

Besides her husband Edward, she is survived by her two sons, David J. Janicki of Wallingford and Paul J. Janicki of Meriden; her three grandchildren, Amanda Janicki, Alicia Janicki and Brittany Jean Janicki; one niece and one nephew. She was predeceased by her brother, Casimer (Charles) Tatara; and a niece, Nancy Ann Tatara Bialy.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Saturday from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter & Paul Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Wallingford. www.wallingfordfh.com.
