Donna Lauria Obituary

CHESHIRE - Miss Donna M. Lauria, age 66, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Highland Health Care Center in Cheshire, where she has resided for the past 17 years.

Miss Lauria was born on May 29, 1945, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Louis and Natalie (Longo) Lauria. She graduated from Bunker Hill Grammar School, Sacred Heart High School and the College of New Rochelle and she earned her master's degree in social work from Fordham University. Donna worked as a social worker for Gaylord Hospital, the City of Waterbury and owned and operated her own consulting company before going to work for Bridgeport Hospital. Donna was a free-spirited, independent lady. She loved to travel and was a fan of the old New York Knicks, the New York Yankee and the UCONN women's basketball.

Donna is survived by her brother, Ronald Lauria and his wife, Sandra, of Waterbury; her sister, Marlene Sullivan and her husband, Robert Sullivan, of Woodbury; her nieces and nephews, Kathleen Troccolo and her husband, Tony; Robert Sullivan, Jr., and his wife, Viv, Nancy Kennedy and her husband, Bill, Laurie Sullivan, Karen Bierce and her husband, Dan, Michael Sullivan and James Sullivan, Mark Lauria and his wife, Sandy and Gregg Lauria and his wife, Geraldine as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews and many cousins and friends.

Donna's family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Highland Health Care Center for the love and outstanding care shown to Donna. They were her second family.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd., Waterbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Maiorano Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
