Emilio J. Talamona

SOUTHINGTON - Emilio (Emil) J. Talamona, 87, of Southington, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was born on July 28, 1926 and was the son of the late Mario and Maddalena (Busa) Talamona. Emil lived in Meriden most of his life prior to moving to Southington, and attended Meriden public schools. He worked at International Silver Company in Meriden for many years and retired from Dalton Enterprises, Inc. in Cheshire. He was a member of the Meriden Rod & Gun Club.

Emil loved to spend the holidays with his family, always bringing with him a bunch of scratch Lotto tickets, hoping for a big win. He was an avid fisherman, who knew of every good bass pond in Connecticut and those that you are not supposed to fish in. We will miss your 4 a.m. fishing calls, baiting our lines, and your fishing stories about the one that got away.

Emil is survived by his daughter, Sharon Durgan, and son-in-law, Toby; his granddaughter, Jessica (Pekoske) Pompei; his great-grandson, Sonney Pompei, his pride and joy; and niece, Paula Snedeker. Emil is also survived by Lois Dionne, his companion of many years; his best fishing buddy, Leon Boucher and his wife, Alberta, who would prepare special lunches for their fishing trips; and a very dear friend, Rob Brainard. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Snedeker and Enis Verdolini.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, April 23, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A wake service will be held at 5:30 p.m. during the calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
