Evelyn J. (Mik) Bandecchi

WALLINGFORD - Evelyn J. Bandecchi, 84, of Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Andrew P. Bandecchi, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Masonicare.

Evelyn was born in Meriden on Oct. 27, 1932, a daughter of the late Floryan and Alexandria (Szela) Mik. Evelyn graduated from the St. Stanislaus School in 1946 and Meriden High School in 1950. She was a parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Church. Always a hard working woman, Evelyn was employed by New Departure, International Silver, and was a nurse's aide at the Masonic Home and Hospital all while raising her family. She was well known for her excellent cooking and her impressive painting ability alongside her beloved Andy who was a master carpenter. Evelyn was helpful to all she knew and loved, always putting their needs before her own.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Simon and her husband, Michael; and her two sons, Dennis Bandecchi and his wife, Michele, and Russell Bandecchi and his wife, Donna. She will be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren, Vanessa Mather and her husband, Kurt, Katie Nemeth and her husband, Jeffrey, Alicia Noyes and her husband, A.J., Garrett Bandecchi and his wife, Stacy, Christopher Bandecchi and his wife, Trish, Jennifer Bousquet and her husband, Nick, Annie Wilhelm and her husband, Eric, Melissa Bandecchi and her boyfriend, Rich, and Russell John Bandecchi and his wife, Katelyn. She was known as Babci to her 19 cherished great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Breanna Mather, Emma, Charlotte, and Sophie Nardi-Nemeth, Rylee and Addison Noyes, Ava Bandecchi, Harper Bandecchi, Nicholas, Joseph, and Noah Bousquet, Sean, Samantha, Colin, and Madison Wilhelm, and Jacob, Caleb, and Daniel Vaupotic. Two more great-grandchildren are expected later this year including the first Bandecchi boy. Evelyn also leaves behind two brothers, Raymond Mik and his wife, Winifred, and Robert Mik and his wife, Barbara; two sisters in law, Lillian Hershey and Norma Mik; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 58 years and her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters, Valeria Pawluk, Mary Specyalski, Rosalyn Mahoney, Dorothy Cook; her brother, Edward Mik; and many other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St., Ext., Saturday, July 22, from 8 until 9:30 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Christian Street, Wallingford.
