George Cappola Obituary

WALLINGFORD - George E. Cappola, Jr. 74, of Wallingford, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Masonicare Health Center. He was the loving husband of 44 years of the late Angela Maria Rose DelGreco Cappola.

George was born in New Haven, Feb. 17, 1940, a son of the late George E. Cappola, Sr. and Philomena Cappela Cappola and had been a Wallingford resident for over 40 years. George was employed by the Wallingford Board of Education until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. Cappola-Brokaw and Keith R. Brokaw, of Wallingford; his two sons and daughters-in-law, George E. Cappola, III and Jennifer Cappola, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Peter E. and Paula Cappola, of Wallingford; he was affectionately known as "Nonno" by his seven grandchildren, Michael Cappola, Jonathan Cappola, Andrew Cappola, Juliana Cappola, Christina Cappola, Morgan Brokaw and Vanessa Brokaw; and is also survived by his two brothers, Dominic Cappola and wife, Joan, and Peter Cappola and wife Marilyn; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Anna Perillo and her husband, Pietro, Michelina (Mrs. Joseph) Iazzetta, Filomena (Mrs. Antonio) Massaro, and Enrico DelGreco and his wife, Lelia all of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Mary Cappola and Margaret Cappola.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Friday, Jan. 30, from 5 until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in The Wallingford Funeral Home, Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association, CT Chapter APDA, P.O. Box 718 Old Mystic, CT. 06372.
