Giuseppina Gulino

WALLINGFORD - Giuseppina (Josephine) Barone Gulino 91, of South Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at her home with her family by her side. She was beloved wife of the late Rosario Gulino.

Mrs. Gulino was born in Comiso, Provincia di Ragusa, Sicily, Italy, on Oct. 29, 1917, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Nicolanna Occhipinti Barone. She had been a Wallingford resident for many years, and had been a tailor and dress maker in Italy. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy Cosentino and her husband Biagio, Biagio G. Gulino and his wife, Teresa, and Lina Distefano and her husband, Luigi, all of Wallingford; eight grandchildren, Salvatore Cosentino and his wife, Ann, Rosario Cosentino and his wife, Kimberly, of Wallingford, Sergio Cosentino and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Middletown, Rosario Gulino and his wife, Lisa, and Josephine Gulino, all of Meriden, Rosario Distefano and his wife, Satie, of Rocky Hill, Alberto Distefano, and Stefania Distefano, both of Wallingford; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosaria (Mrs. Giuseppe) Campo and Maria (Mrs. Giovanni) Granata, of Italy; three brothers, Filippo Barone and his wife, Gina, Nunzio Barone and his wife, Pina, Giuseppe Barone and his wife, Giovanna, all of Italy. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Simona Distefano; and a sister and brother in law, Nunziata Mezzasalma and her husband, Salvatore.

Mrs. Gulino's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Audrey Lefkowitz and the staff of Franciscan Home Care for the excellent care of their mother.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext, Thursday, from 5 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1 from The Wallingford Funeral Home at 9 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, were a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
