Guy Aliotta Obituary

Guy J. Aliotta, MD, of Meriden, beloved husband of Jacquelyn (Zemke) Aliotta, passed away peacefully, June 2, 2021, at his home in his loving wife's arms.

Guy was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on July 9, 1963, a son of Guy and Janice (Tuttle) Aliotta of Las Vegas.

Guy grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY, and attended local schools. He enjoyed living on the same street as his elementary school and had many fond memories of playing with his friends, sisters, and cousins, making up games in the parking lot. Guy always loved baseball which he inherited from his grandfather Joe Tuttle. He was the pitcher for many teams growing up and was always listening to the Yankees play on his radio. Guy continued his education and graduated from Manhattanville College with a B.A. in Biology and then from Hahnemann University where he earned his M.D. He worked for Hartford Hospital where he served his Transitional Internship and his class is still talked about for being the best group of residents they have ever had to this day. He became part of the active Medical Staff at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital and then MidState Medical Center where he became the Director of the Anesthesiology Department. He was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Medical Society, New Haven County Medical Association, Meriden-Wallingford Medical Society where he served as president from 2000 - 2002, Connecticut State Medical Society, and the Connecticut State Society of Anesthesiologists. Guy wanted to become an Anesthesiologist so that he could help take away people's pain. He was respected as a wonderful doctor and friend to his coworkers and all his patients.

Whether he was riding a jet ski or his 4x4, he was having a great time! He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, from Africa to Alaska and Hawaii but especially to St Martin. The memories they made while traveling alone or with the whole family on cruises and road trips will never be forgotten. We will always remember how he made us laugh and smile. He was a genuinely good and loving person who always gave generously of himself.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his two loving daughters of whom he was so proud, Rachel Berk and her husband, Daniel, of Amston and Jessica Aliotta and her partner, Dan Riccitelli, of New Britain; sons, Steven Adduci of California, Edward Adduci and his wife, Devon, of Plantsville, parents to the apple of his eyes, his grandchildren Hannah and Edward, Derek Adduci and his partner, Christina Uvino, of Cheshire, and his adopted son Tim Marshall of Wolcott; his sisters, Anne Marie Iorio and her husband, Paul, and nephew Chris of Las Vegas and Jennifer Williams and her husband, Chris, and godson Christopher of Las Vegas. He also leaves behind his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Sally Zemke, of Meriden; his sister-in-law, Lori Stafstrom and her husband, Don, of Southington; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Louis and Catherine Aliotta, his maternal grandparents, Anna and Joe Tuttle, Sr., and his uncles, Joe Tuttle and Mickey Drivas. Guy also is predeceased by his many furry friends especially Rusty, Amber, and Mickey who we know are surrounding him with love right now.

We would like to acknowledge the hard working and caring staff at Hartford Hospital especially Dr. Rutter, Dr. Daher, and Donna Avanecean APRN. Your compassion helped make such a difficult time so much easier. The family would also like to give special thanks to all the numerous friends and coworkers that sent cards, prayers, and food throughout his illness especially Tom and Pam Gaffey for their continued love and friendship.

Guy's family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 4 pm until 8 pm. His funeral will be held at 11 am on Tuesday in the funeral home. Masks must be worn at the funeral home. You can view his funeral service via livestream by going to his webpage at www.wallingfordfh.com at 11 am on Tuesday. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Since he loved all dogs and the sacrifices our military have made, we wish in lieu of flowers that gifts in his memory be made to PAWS FOR PURPLE HEARTS, P.O. Box 1209, Merrifield, VA 22116-9808, or Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Ave Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001.

My only son ~ Born July 9th, 1963, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to the proudest parents on this earth, Janice and Guy Aliotta,. we knew he was special from the day he was born. When he was an infant he caught a deadly stmoach virus with very bad Diarrhea and was getting badly dehydrated fast, also with a very high fever. So my wife and I, along with my father, Louis Aliotta in the middle of the night, rushed him to the emergency room. He was near death, got his last rights from a Catholic Priest. My dad, from the hospital, decedided to call on his frind Dr. Starpolii, a well known surgeon in the area at that time, who came to the hospital asap and he operated on baby Guy' thigh to tap into a main artery. Once this was done and the intrvenous started to flow throughtout his body his vital starting to come back. He spent 2 weeks in the hospital trying to eat food again without Diarrhea occuring and recoperating . What fighter he was! We all prayed so hard to Jesus Christ our lord to please heal our son and that he did! Why, because he knew that our son was a worthy person who would some day save many people from pain and suffering by becoming an anatheologist! The good lord gave him 57 more years of life and he loved and appreciated every minute of it. He lived his life to the fullest and took care of all of his relatives and friends when in need of his generosity. Jesus blessed him 2 beautiful daughters and a beautiful wife, named Jacquline, who was definitely his soulmate and right by his side every second right up untill his demise. True love for sure! May our handsome and intelligent son, "Dr. Guy J. Aliotta", RIP in Heaven and someday soon we will all meet and be together again for eternity! Love you forevermore , Mom & Dad!!!

To Guy's family - I had the pleasure of working with Guy at Hartford Hospital when he was part of that "best ever" class -- and let me tell you, It was the right label. He was awesome. In a decade at HH and working with hundreds of name/faces during that time, things become a blur...but 30 yrs later and Guy's name is still one I remember and makes me smile.

I'm so sorry for your loss and am grateful for my memories!

Guy was such a compassionate person. I always requested him whenever I had surgery. He always made me feel safe when undergoing anesthesia. I used to joke with him, that I loved seeing his smiling eyes as I went under. Bob and I wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to Guy's family on their loss.

To Jackie and family,
My deepest sympathies for your loss. Guy was a great colleague and someone I will never forget. We had many great times working together for 20 years at Midstate. Lots of laughs and good times that were made better by him. He loved his yellow Corvette and I will think about him whenever I see one. He was one of the best anesthesiologists I have worked with in my long career. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May he test in peace.

Our sympathies to Guy's family. Our son Tim, who is friends with Ed and Derek, always spoke so highly of Guy. He said Guy was always smiling. Although he was my anthestiologist for surgery I had several years ago at Midstate, we never really knew him aside from what our son told us. We know he will be missed. Thinking of all of you during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Al and Lorraine Gurz

Gone too soon. Little Guy was my best friend growing up. The most devastating memory of my childhood was when Aunt Fuzz and Uncle Guy were going to move away. I cried and cried I didn't want them to move. I was going to miss Little Guy. Thankfully they stayed. I don't know a life without Little Guy. You will live in my heart forever.
Thank you Aunt Fuzz and Uncle Guy for shaping him into the man he became. Thank you Jackie for taking care of him when he needed you most. You were his angel - now he is your angel. Jackie you will never be alone - he will live on within you. I love you all.

Our hearts go out to Guy’s family. My husband Chris was a high school friend of his and I was regaled with stories of his humor ands pranks as they were growing up. I am so sorry to hear of Guy's death. He was always so good to Curt over the years they worked together and whenever I saw him, he would always be so friendly and smiling. My favorite memory of him was being at a summer party and Guy asked me if I wanted a ride in his special edition bright yellow Corvette. Of course I said "yes" and I will never forget how fast and fun it was! He was a wonderful person.
