Jean Ziemba Shibetta

Jean Ziemba Shibetta, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on November 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Agnes Ziemba. She had resided in Meriden and had graduated from Meriden High School in 1951 and received her associate degree at Laurel Business College in Meriden. Mrs. Shibetta was employed by Northeast Utilities and retired in 1999. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, St. Joseph's Campus.

Jean enjoyed her retirement by going to Englewood, Florida, every year for several months by playing golf and bridge with her friends. She always enjoyed spending happy times with her daughters and attending the scholastic games her grandchildren played. Her favorite holiday was the Polish traditional "Christmas Eve" and her delicious pierogi's she made every year for the entire family. She always loved dancing especially to the polka with her brother Walt. Jean was blessed with many wonderful friends. She would like to be remembered with a smile and as being a true friend. Stolat!

Jean is survived by her two daughters, Donna Shibetta Ming and her husband James and Susan Shibetta Marinelli and her fiancé Phil Briner; son, Gary John Shibetta; her four grandchildren, Denny Nelson and his wife Rachel and Dustin Nelson, Caterina Marinelli and AJ Marinelli, and her three great-grandchildren, Carter Nelson, Cameron Nelson and Grayson Nelson. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Ziemba and his wife Kathleen, and her nephew Ryan Ziemba and his wife Lindsay. Jean was pre-deceased by her brother Richard Ziemba.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450.
