I was so sad to hear that John has passed away. He was a special person who will be missed by so many. It has been a lot of years but we have history that goes back to when we were young. I have some wonderful memories of those times. I’m sure he has left incredible memories to all his family and friends.
He will rest in peace knowing that.

I offer my deepest condolences to John's family. I enjoyed the pleasure of working with John for most of my career with the Wallingford Police Department. He was uniquely passionate about everything he did. That was abundantly clear by a showing of dedication and commitment to family and work. His agency contributions were highly valued, most notably as a team member in many of the town's critical incidents. For a lengthy and successful career of distinguished public service, he was well-known and well-respected in the Town of Wallingford and the law community.

l'm very saddened to hear of this. My sincere condolences to his wife and family. Vito was more than just my patrol sergeant in the 80's, he was my friend. A good friend. A friend that always had my back. He was passionate about police work and led by example. A cops cop. I always respected and admired him. Tough when he needed to be but a heart of gold on the inside. He will be missed by all who knew him. RIP my friend.

Lost a good one. I worked with John for a number of years at Meriden PD and he was a very funny guy. But what struck me most was he retired from a Police Department, came to Meriden as a full time employee and also work at a University full time at the same time to help out his kids with College. That is the definition of a true man who put his own life on the back burner for his family who he was soooo proud of. See you in Heaven one day.

I worked with John at Meriden P.D when I was both the Training Officer and also when I was promoted to the rank of Detective. He was a hard worker, had a great sense of humor and always went above board to assist in any way he could. He was a great guy and Law Enforcement professional.

My brother John called me and told me of John’s passing, and so many memories flooded my mind.
John, Kenny, Billy and Bobby were like my brothers as we grew up together. As brothers there were none better.
I would run into John over the years, and he was always the same great guy, and we’d talk as if no time had passed.
I had heard he was fighting a tough fight, God Bless him, he was truly one of the best people you could ever know.
My deepest sympathies to my brothers Kenny Bobby and Billy, and to all his family, friends and those that were fortunate enough to know him.
God Bless

It's been many years but I will never forget Vito; My boss in the bureau, cohort in carpentry, and friend. No matter it be building rooms on his house or working a case, he never ceased to amaze me with his strength, wit, will, sense of humor, and charm. Who doesn't have a story about John 'Vito' Genovese? Whose life isn't better after having known him? My condolences to his family. RIP L T.
